Getting started
Is ShiroCode free?
Yes. All courses, quizzes, challenges and exams are free, with no ads.
Do I need to know anything first?
No. Every course starts at the very first program. If you have never coded, Python is a great first choice.
Which languages can I learn?
Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C, C++, Go, Rust, Dart, PHP, Ruby and SQL. See all courses.
Where can I use it?
In your browser at coding.shironc.com/app and on Android. Sign in on both and your progress is the same.
Learning
How long is a lesson?
Most take two to five minutes. Each topic has a learn lesson and a practice lesson.
How does review work?
Every question you answer gets a schedule. Right answers come back later each time (1, 3, 7, 16, 35, then 75 days); wrong ones come back tomorrow. The daily review collects what is due.
Can I really run code on my phone?
Yes. Programs run on our servers and the output appears in the app. You need to be signed in and online for that.
What happens if I fail a quiz?
Three mistakes and the quiz starts over with a fresh shuffle. That way, passing means you really know the unit.
Account
Why verify my email?
It confirms the address belongs to you, keeps the AI tutor free of abuse and lets you recover your account. Tap the link in the email we send after you sign up.
The verification link expired.
Links work for 48 hours. Open the app and tap Resend on the banner at the top of the home screen.
Does it work offline?
Lessons and reviews work offline once you are signed in. Running code and the tutor need a connection; progress syncs when you are back online.
How do I delete my account?
Email hello@shironc.com from the address on your account and we will delete it with all its data.
